Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.
Police say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then found numerous other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say initial examinations suggest the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the community for details.
An important representative said the vandalism rendered him without words and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a gunman targeting people of migrant background in February 2020.
